Galicia has always been able to harness the energy of nature. Its rivers and winds, inexhaustible and powerful, have shaped a landscape in which the "muiños" were integrated into the fields and forests as something seemingly natural. In the hills, the "muiños de vento" were spinning to the rhythm of the prevailing wind; while in the valleys, the "muiños de auga" were beating their blades in unison. These devices not only facilitated the work, but also left an indelible mark on Galician culture, testimony of a time when self-sufficiency defined life in rural areas.
